Focus 2 App Reviews

Installed on my 2012 MacBook Pro . Have tried numerous times to edit a photo. The photo showes up but when you enter one of the editing modes, the photo looks like a bizare jumble of lines on a dark screen. Tried to get help form developer but so far no response. At this point I would rate the app a 0 stars. Hopefully the developer will respond and help me correct this problem. It is completely useless as is.

Same problem as rcmarson. Totally broken on 27 Retina iMac (El Cap). I wish it worked, but Macphun doesn’t seem to care. I emailed them, but no reponse. Don’t waste your money.

Whenever I open up a picture, it becomes out of focus, inverted color, the grid is not responsive. Then Crashes. What is up guys?! Please release a patch to update this purchased app!

This was a great app, but since El Cap Focus 2 is broken. Like everyone else, any photo I open and try to edit instantly becomes black with some inverted colors and dragging around creates a giant white circle. Macphun should pull it from the store if they are going to abandon the app and not fix it. If youre on OS X El Capitan, do not buy this app!

Tried using this on my 5K Retina iMac and it does some really funky things before eventually freezing.

Prior to El Capitan this app would have gotten a 5 star rating, but since the upgrade to OS X 10.11 it no longer works. After opening an image it looks fine, but as soon as you try to do anything with it, the image just turns into an inverted mess of colors or a black & white blob. AVOID for now

Since the latest OS update, this app does not work right. I would have thought thats these people would have updated it to stay with the times. Guess this was a waste of money!

Image Completely disappears. Also, no photos extension. booo

Used to like this app but for the last month or so it does not work well at all. Uninstalled and reinstalled it but it is still acting odd and slow. Would not recommend it.

Focus 2 does not work under El Capitan. MacPhun will send you a beta copy of Focus CK but without an activation code. You cannot save your work or use their other apps. In case you do have Focus 2, send them proof of purchase or they will ignore you. I’m not given to complaining but this is poor form. MacPhun makes decent software but their energies seem to be directed to pushing various versions of their image processing tools (one gets a constant stream of pop-up windows and email reminders of their latest holiday offerings. Not enough is being done to address customer concerns. Honestly, I’d rather stick with a slow and steady, if expensive company like Adobe. Advice: Make a good product and your customers will help you market it.

Every time I import a photo then try one of the editing modes it shrinks to a small black box and the whole thing becomes usless. I’m using a brand new iMac 27”.

Let me start off by saying I currently own every other Mcphun application - of which this the my most recent purchase (last night). All the other apps have worked flawlessly for me. I shoot with a Nikon D800, so my file sizes are massive, and their software handles them very well. So I was shocked when this app just didn’t work. Not a quality thing, it just does not work. It boots up, but once I load a picture, everything turns to garbage. This is not an issue with me having an older machine. My Macbook Pro is Apple’s top of the line and fairly new, my OS is El Capitan. Before I wrote this review, I thought it might be a file size issue, so I also tried on a much smaller file taken with my iPhone - still the same problem. I’m thinking it’s an OS compatibility issue - I wouldn’t think Macphun would sell something they knew didn’t work - but now reading the other reviews - they should have know - not good. Unfortunately, until they fix this problem - it’s pure junk as far as I am concerned - I would strongly recommend staying away from it until they update the program to at least where you can load a photo - and rate it based on the merits of how it performs. Right now I can’t even do that.

Amazing that this company can market this product for Apple when it will not work at all on one of their best selling laptops. All images loaded are turned to garbage. There is no support or instructions available. Complete waste of money. The supporting reviews must be using a different OS or are mere schills for Macphun.

It just super-slow and more often than not, freezed. The preview function doesn’t work, just a black negative photo shown. Waste of money!

I used to love using this app. Once I upgraded to El Cap this app imports the image and then distorts it byond recognition. The exposrt feature them prints a black background with a white gradient where the fad is supposed to be but the picture is nonexistent. Worked great with Yosemite but they haven’t fixed it so that El Cap would be able to function. Waiting on a fix.

After two months – Focus is still unusable. Reported to MacPhun, and received no response. Cannot recommend ANY of their apps. Their aggressive marketing is not backed by aggressive updates and support.

Great app but as of today it is a complete waste. No longer works or functions as it did six months ago….not to mention it crashes 99% of the time. Be warned….I would gladly take a refund, if possible.

This software does not work. Everytime I load a photo it turns 90% black with strange colors coming through. I wish I had read the other “recent” reviews before purchasing. The apple store should not allow this app to be sold.
